What Makes a Billet Suitable for Forging?
Suitability depends on the final component, forging reduction, heating route, chemistry, surface acceptance, internal soundness, heat treatment and inspection plan. If ultrasonic testing or another internal-quality check is required, state the method, standard and acceptance level instead of requesting only a general ‘UT passed’ billet.
